Personally I totally loved reading the book. Ultimately Babu discovers his life mission and takes steps to be the best in music the way he wants to be and the ending was heartwarming. The novel is fairly long (663 pages) and describes in so much detail how day to day life was, the festivities, the family dynamics, social issues and most importantly the finer aspects of learning music.

It's set in 1930-1940s Kumbakonam, Papanasam and Thanjavur region. Ultimately Babu discovers his life mission and takes steps to be the best in music the way he wants to be and the ending Mohamul is a sort of coming-of-age story about Babu and the people who played an important part in his life.

Mohamul is a sort of coming-of-age story about Babu and the people who played an important part in his life. WELL DONEĪs I SAID THIS IS NOT PLOT OR GENERALIZED PERSPECTIVE.IT IS ABOUT TRUTH, REALITY AND A FAILURE OF IT. novels I have READ it does not working by the perspective ,well there is certainly a social opinions told in young man's point of view but the story does not move in a way to prove it but to portray the hollowness of it.It is about a man whose world starts to fall apart when he cannot choose side between the reality, his feelings, his father, his feelings and himself-he who bound by the social opinions to his inner self. When he did overcome by his feelings and who becomes hurt when he cannot feel himself as a man from a world whose control and his beliefs he thought was eternal.Yet in this this story the world which fell apart does not become black or blocked but more clear and beautiful and clear.Ī well written ,promising compelling read. It is a youthful, well handled, realistic story of young boy who is struggling between his passion, love, boyish feelings and society.Unlike some other T.J. Okay. The story is a very simple one.A boy who is who come to study in collage away from home, a son of a singer, a passionate youngster, and he does with his life.It all becomes more sensible ,complicated and difficult when he meets his past love and passion-a past that he did dare to become involved with. It is a youthful, well handled, realistic story of young boy who is struggling between his passion, love, boyish feelings and society What to say?Loved it.
